No more Masters in AI for me!

December 20, 2025

This past semester, I started a Master's in AI from the University of North Texas. My goal was to start with one 3 hour class, with the intention of getting to a steady stream of 6 credit hour semesters. After taking CSCE 5210, I realized I just do not have the time to take 6 hours a semester. My family responsobilities, along with working full time, made it too stressful. I really enjoyed learning about AI theory and working on the class projects. Some of the projects in this class included:

  • Creating a traffic simulator to determine which new streets a city should add to alleviate congestion
  • Computing an optimal flow for a network with source and sink nodes and comparing the results to the Edmunds Karp algorithm
  • Create a policy for a car agent to use to parallel park in an environment with obstacles

Working on these projects, along with learning about the history of AI up until modern day, was very enjoyable. At this point, I will probably stop trying to get a grad degree until my kids are way older or I can go back to school full time.
